We’re Here When Your Child Needs Urgent Dental Care

Dental emergencies can happen unexpectedly, and we understand how stressful they can feel for both children and parents. We strive to provide prompt, compassionate care to help your child feel comfortable and supported during urgent situations.

If your child is experiencing a dental emergency during office hours, please contact our office right away. For serious injuries involving difficulty breathing, significant facial swelling, or head trauma, please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room immediately.

Common Pediatric Dental Emergencies

Toothache

  • Rinse your child’s mouth gently with warm water

  • Carefully floss around the area to remove trapped food

  • Do not place aspirin or heat on the gums or tooth

  • If swelling is present, apply a cold compress and contact our office promptly

Knocked-Out Permanent Tooth

  • Quick action may improve the chance of saving the tooth.

  • Handle the tooth only by the crown (top portion)

  • Rinse gently with water if dirty — do not scrub

  • If possible, gently place the tooth back into the socket

  • If reinsertion is not possible, place the tooth in milk or saliva

  • Contact our office or seek emergency dental care immediately

Knocked-Out Baby Tooth

Please do not attempt to place the baby tooth back into the socket. Contact our office so we can help determine the best next steps for your child.

Chipped or Broken Tooth

  • Rinse the mouth with water

  • Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling

  • Save any broken tooth fragments if possible

  • Contact our office as soon as possible for evaluation

Lip, Tongue, or Cheek Injury

  • Apply gentle pressure with clean gauze to control bleeding

  • Use a cold compress or ice pack to reduce swelling

  • If bleeding does not stop, seek immediate medical attention

Facial Injury or Possible Jaw Fracture

If your child experiences:

  • a severe blow to the head

  • difficulty breathing

  • severe swelling

  • or a possible jaw fracture

please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room immediately.

dental pain, swelling, or injuries.
