If your child is experiencing a dental emergency during office hours, please contact our office right away. For serious injuries involving difficulty breathing, significant facial swelling, or head trauma, please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room immediately.
Toothache
Rinse your child’s mouth gently with warm water
Carefully floss around the area to remove trapped food
Do not place aspirin or heat on the gums or tooth
If swelling is present, apply a cold compress and contact our office promptly
Quick action may improve the chance of saving the tooth.
Handle the tooth only by the crown (top portion)
Rinse gently with water if dirty — do not scrub
If possible, gently place the tooth back into the socket
If reinsertion is not possible, place the tooth in milk or saliva
Contact our office or seek emergency dental care immediately
Please do not attempt to place the baby tooth back into the socket. Contact our office so we can help determine the best next steps for your child.

Apply gentle pressure with clean gauze to control bleeding
Use a cold compress or ice pack to reduce swelling
If bleeding does not stop, seek immediate medical attention

a severe blow to the head
difficulty breathing
severe swelling
or a possible jaw fracture
please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room immediately.
